In 2009, the Boston Public Schools launched an ambitious Acceleration Agenda,
a five year plan to close racial and socioeconomic achievement gaps and
reach 100 percent proficiency on the MCAS by the spring of 2014. But five years
later, as the plan expires, BPS has made minimal gains and fewer than half of
BPS students can reach proficiency in reading or math.
